Metal Sculpture - 6' Old Man and the Sea
The white marlin is a fish from the family Istiophoridae. It has an elongated body, a spear-like snout or bill, and a long, rigid dorsal fin which extends forward to form a crest. Its common name is thought to derive from its resemblance to a sailor's marlinspike. On the acclaimed Hemingway book "Old Man and the Sea" the marlin is pictured as Santiago's worthy opponent. Struggling against such an opponent brings out the best in an individual—courage, endurance, and love. Both Santiago and the marlin display qualities of pride, honor, and bravery, and both are subject to the same eternal law: they must kill or be killed*All of our sculptures come with stainless steel brackets and hardware for mounting.
